Tournament Director Joao Lagos joined Portuguese No. 2 Rui Machado at the Estoril Open draw ceremony on Saturday afternoon. The top four seeds have each received first-round byes.

Top seed Robin Soderling could meet Juan Martin del Potro in the quarter-finals.

Soderling has had an explosive start to 2011, winning three ATP World Tour titles this year at Brisbane (d. Roddick), Rotterdam (d. Tsonga) and Marseille (d. Cilic). He will meet either Jeremy Chardy of Adrian Mannarino in the second round.

Del Potro, the 2009 US Open titlist, is competing at the Estadio Nacional for the first time in four years. The former World No. 4, who is on the comeback trail after a wrist injury last season, will meet a qualifier in the first round.

Second seed Fernando Verdasco will be hoping to win his first match in Estoril, having made first-round exits in 2002 (l. to Voinea) and 2003 (l. to Blanco).

The 27-year-old Madrid resident will meet either last year's runner-up and local favourite Frederico Gil or a qualifier in the second round.

Former World No. 6 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga makes his tournament debut as the No. 3 seed. The charismatic Frenchman challenges either Pere Riba or Pablo Cuevas in his first match.

Another former World No. 6 Gilles Simon, currently No. 22 in the South African Airways 2011 ATP Rankings, will face Daniel Gimeno-Traver or Carlos Berlocq in the second round. Fourth seed Simon reached the quarter-finals (l. to Montanes) in 2009.

In first-round match-ups, Milos Raonic is scheduled to meet Igor Andreev, while Thomaz Bellucci takes on a qualifier.

The Estoril Open is an ATP World Tour 250 clay-court tournament, which has been played each year since 1990. Thomas Muster, Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer are among its former champions.
