Second Seeds Melo-Soares Beaten In Doubles

Carlos Berlocq and Pere Riba knocked out second-seeded Brazilians Marcelo Melo and Bruno Soares 6-2, 6-3 in 61 minutes on Monday at the Estoril Open.

Melo and Soares, the winners of two ATP World Tour clay-court titles this year at Costa do Sauipe and Santiago, dropped to an 11-8 match record on the season.

Spaniards Pablo Andujar and Daniel Gimeno-Traver saved all four break points they faced to oust Yves Allegro and Gilles Simon 6-3, 6-3 in 62 minutes in the last completed match of the day. They are now 7-5 on the year.

In the women's doubles, second seeds Abigail Spears and Raquel Kop-Jones cruised past Alexandra Panova and Tatiana Poutchek 6-3, 6-3, saving five of six break points.
