Coetzee/Moodie Continue Title Charge

Top-seeded South African duo Jeff Coetzee and Wesley Moodie edged into the semifinals of the Estoril Open after a 6-2, 6-7(4) 10-6 win against Swedish/Finnish pairing Robert Lindstedt and Jarkko Nieminen.

Coetzee/Moodie converted four of 15 break point chances and saved nine of 11 against them to help wrap up victory in 1hr., 34mins. The South Africans, who are playing together as a tandem in Valencia for the first time, are looking to continue their fine form of the season so far.

Placed No. 20 and No. 30 in the Stanford ATP Doubles rankings respectively, Coetzee/Moodie finished runners-up in Doha at the beginning of the campaign and followed it up with semifinal finishes at the Australian Open and ATP Masters Series Miami.

In the semifinals they will face Swiss/French duo Yves Allegro and Nicolas Mahut who upset fourth seeds Marcelo Melo and Sebastian Prieto. Both teams won 62 points as Allegro/Mahut edged out victory in a match tie-break 6-4, 3-6, 11-9.

Playing together for the second time this year, Allegro/Mahut were quarterfinalists in Chennai at the start of the campaign. While they are competing in Estoril together for the first time, Allegro finished runner-up last season partnering Sebastian Prieto.
