World nr. 6 Davydenko set to compete in 2010

Former champion Nikolay Davydenko will compete at the Estoril Open for the fifth successive year and eighth time overall from 1-9 May 2010.

The 28-year-old Russian joins ATP World Tour No. 1 Roger Federer, the 2008 champion, and last year’s runner-up James Blake at the ATP World Tour 250 clay-court tennis tournament.

Davydenko has a 16-6 record at the Estadio Nacional, highlighted by clinching the 2003 title (d. Calleri) and finishing runner-up in 2006 (l. to Nalbandian) and 2008 (l. to Federer).

Davydenko finished the 2009 season with a 57-17 match record, highlighted by five ATP World Tour titles including the season-ending Barclays ATP World Tour Finals in London (d. del Potro).

He finished in Top 6 of the South African Airways ATP Rankings for a fifth consecutive year and extended his streak of winning at least one title for seven seasons.
